I don't think so. 355 8.0 comp, slp 1 3/4 headers, afr heads, comp cams blower grind cam, 1.6 rockers, Miniram intake, 58mm tb, msd digital 7, 30 lb./hr. injectors and about 15 psi of intercooled boost.

If I go with 383 cui and no other changes, the heads will probably not flow enough with 383.

I think a set of afr's will flow enough for a 383. Mabey you should look into some brodix heads.

Since you're in Sweden, find out what Saab does to wring so much power out of its four cylinder engines. There will be your answer.

It's very difficult to make a 2 valve cylinder head breathe like a 4 valve head. I would also believe that Saab, and most race engine builders, get into very sophisticated acoustical tuning of the intake and headers. If the intake and headers are resonating at the same RPM, you will get a substantial increase in power, BUT within a limited RPM range.

500HP from 355 or even 383 cubic inches would be a b*tch to live with every day. If it's possible for you, I'd rather try and get that 500 HP from a 454 big block and then swap that bad boy in, bolted to a TH400. 500HP from a 454 would be EASY and driveable!

You have to remember the engine is running under boost,if those heads are extensively ported he will come close to his goal

I have one word about SAAB engines, TURBO. Here in sweden Turbo cars is very popular and very fast!!! So I need more power to show some real american muscle and the power of a V8.

Ok. I'm planning a rebuild in april and just curius how much power i will get. I have all the stuff on my car today so it will be just a rebiuld for my future SC, but maybe I should go for 383 and some other heads? if its not to much x-tra $$$$.

The car is a daily driven cruiser, not to be forgotten.

Afr's flow better than Brodix? I don't think so, have you seen the upper end brodix heads they will murder afr's.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the AFR's outflowed the BRODIX heads. Now if we are talking about the "big" brodix heads then all we do is talk about the 210cc fully ported race heads from AFR, and then again the BRODIX loose! either way you can beat AFR's. I have a flow sheet right here that shows the flow numbers from various companies and the AFR's out flowed them all out of the box. Now with work on them... need I say more..
