Last check, will this fuel pump work
I asked this before and a few of the elders seemed to indicate that it would work, but I never got the direct answer I was looking for. Car has tpi intank fuel pump w/ regulator running a carb., fuel pump is going out on me. I have a holley red pump that I want to put in-line and leave the tpi pump in the tank, w/o power. Also, would a tpi fuel filter be the best for this, or should I go with something made for lower fuel pressure ? (or does it really matter), thanks (again)

I'm not sure if it will work with a dead pump at the end of the pickup or not. Most people I've seen do this usually drop the tank and install a carb style pickup in place of the fuel injected one. I'm sure you're probably trying to avoid the pain of dropping the tank, but you might have to. Carbureted f bodys are easy enough to find in any junkyard. I'd either do that or remove the dead pump and rig up a hose with a screen on the end of it. You should be able to run whatever fuel filter you want with the relatively low pressure it takes to run a carb. Heck, I'd consider keeping the original fuel injection style filter since it's a pretty rugged unit with threaded fittings instead of cheap hose clamps.

when i put my 350 in my car i had a stock pushrod operated fuel pump and it wotked fine. my car had a V6 with MPFI and i left the pump in. latter in the summer i swiched to a carter in line electric fuel pump and it still worked fine. the pump in the tank is not wired in to any thing. i hope this helps.

How efficient is that, if you seen the in tank fuel pump you would drop the tank.
It's has to pull fuel through the impellers of that dead pump. yuck !!!
Think about how much LESS your pump would have to work if it's pulling fuel through a nice hollow tube.
Not saying it can’t be done, it’s just not efficient, and is going to shorten the life of your new pump.
All I did, was drop in a piece of 3/8 fuel hose, where to pump was. If your filter is before you pump, you can probably forgo the screen.

I guess the thinking behind my post is about the same as ron's. I can't see it as flowing the greatest with the restriction of a dead pump on the end of the line. As far as the screen goes, yeah you could probably forgo that as long as you have that inline filter still. I just mentioned the screen to avoid being admonished by some doomsayer! hehe

The only reason I said forgo the screen, is cause it's hard to put it on the end of a fuel hose & pray it stays. 
Now that you've brought of the screen, think about what that sucker looks like 'JJ'. I have 70,000 mile on my Vette, and I replaced the fuel pump on it and the screen had hardened and was black from crud.
Hell I made it worth my while to drop the tank, twice last year on my '82 TA (from stock to OEM replacment to blue pump) . I replaced the springs, shocks, and cleaned up the panhard & track bar. It sits level now - wooohooo.
Guess what, I've got to do it again (fuel cell). A little hint to make it easier - two words - AIR TOOLS...
