I was talkin engines with someone at work yesterday and he tells me a great way to make power out of a small block. Said to try and keep the piston at TDC for as long as possible, and that is where all the power from small-blocks are made. What do you think? (i can't remember if he said piston or somethin else)

The same goes for any heat engine. That's just simple thermodynamics.
The way you accomplish that is by using the longest rods you conveniently can. In practice though, the actual difference in power is only barely measurable, if at all, beacuse the amount of change is such a small percentage. It's a way for people with otherwise very closely matched or controlled engine specs to pick up just another tiny advantage on the other guy.
