just a stupid intake question. I WANT MORE NOISE!!
Is there any way on a TPI 350 in an 89 GTA to get more of that classic wide open intake noise like that of a quadrajet? To me that is the finest sound in the world. I want it to sound like its going to suck the hood through the intake. I actually cut holes in my airbox and that helped a little. Any more ideas???

89,
With a MAF sensor, the necessary ductwork kills a lot of that resonance. As a matter of fact, the outlet side screen on a stock Bosch MAF is there partly to block some of the sonic shock waves that are created by the WOT "howl". These shocks can stress the hot wire in the MAF to the point of failure over time. If you had a speed/density arrangement, you could install an open element air filter right at the throttle body and make lots of howl, but you would be sucking heated underhood air, which would cost you some power.
You might want to consider a more open exhaust to increase the noise (and power) levels.

Mine made a pretty good "howl" when I opened up the lid on my home-made cold air box and before I put on a louder exhaust.
It still makes a bit of howl @ WOT, but the exhaust drowns it out pretty good. I suspect an open element on a Miniram would make more due to its shorter intake runners.
