Fuel leaking in engine bay?
This is in regards to my '89 IROC.
Ever noticed how you can "see" gasoline vapors, especially on sunny days? Like if you had a container of gasoline, left the cap off, and then looked across the opening, you'd see the gasoline evaporating.
Well, I've noticed that when I have my hood open with the engine running, I can see the exact phenomenon happening. It almost looks like the engine is under water. Plus, I can very obviously see shadows of this stuff on the concrete next to the car (i.e. if I'm looking at the shadow produced by my open hood, I can see the shadows of the vapors coming from the engine bay).
The same thing happens whether it's cold or hot outside.
Is this indeed unburnt gasoline that I'm seeing? If so, is it normal to see it coming from the engine bay?
Thanks
