Fuel system pulsating...why?

Well, maybe this is related to the detonation problem, but the fuel supply line pulsates, you can hear it and feel it. Seems worse at the regulator instead of back at the tank.
When I changed to an adj fp reg, it stopped until I drove down the block, and it started pulsating again.
I assume its pulsating because the pressure is dropping and rising very quickly.
It seems to pulsate at the speed of the rpms, gets faster as the rpms get faster.
Fuel pressure seems to rise like it should during accel, but needle vibrates real bad.
Any ideas on cause?
Thanks

It may be the fpr diaphragm iself. Do you have a guage? If so, check your pressure at idle and report back. Also, rev it a few times to see what the pressure does then.

Base pressure with line off is set at 50# (see detonation post is why so high) at idle its around 40-42#, and climbs accordingly to around 48-50# at WOT.
I installed a new diaphram and spring when I installed the adj. reg. this last weekend, and it stopped pulsating for about a block down the street then it returned.

Any other ideas?
I have also disconnected the return line at the manifold at idle in case there was a return line restriction, but no change.
