More heads to chose from

I was just at the edelbrock web site and found their design of the vortec and fastburns\ E-TEC 170 flows 20% more on the exhaust side then the vortecs\ E-TEC 200 outflows the fastburns 10% on the intake and 17% on the exhaust. Both aluminum Just a little info for you guys!

I just received my e-mail from Edelbrock.
Q:
Do you have any flow data on the E-Tec #6097 heads.
Can these be milled down to 58cc, in order to work on a 305ci?
A:
int/exh
.100 64/54
.200 130/104
.300 186/140
.400 220/169
.500 232/183
.600 238/190

I really do not recommend these on a 305 engine do to the small bore of the
engine.

Why not use on a 305? Isn't these the same thing as Vortec heads that other are using on 305's?

The problem with putting good heads on a 305 has nothing to do with flow.

The bore is so small, that if the valves are large enough to support the flows in those sheets, the are so large in diameter that tye no longer fit in the bore. They actually overhang the top of the block. So it is possible, depending on the cam you use and various other variables, for the valves to hit the top of the block. Milling them makes the problem even worse, because it brings the valves closer to the deck.

This is one of the reasons that the 305 just isn't suited for high horsepower applications. It is what it is, and if you want much beyond how it comes, you need to step up to a bigger motor.

But they are 1.94 and 1.55 valves. Shouldn't these work?

1.94's are close. I've run 1.94's on the 305 head but you gotta do some unshrouding to clear.
