Fuel pump replacement and now charcoal canister leaks ?

I replaced the fuel pump in my tank about 3 months ago and after I got everything back together and drove 1/2 block to the gas station, I noticed my charcoal canister was leaking gas out of it. I didn't know what really what was wrong and I had to go to work the next day so I just plugged off the line going to the tank. Now it seems like my tank is building up too much pressure and my gas gauge is a little (1/8) off. I was looking into the possibily that two of the lines were switched (the one going from the tank to the canister and right below the tank to that tube thingy). I can also smell gas around the rear of the car sometimes, but I think that's comming from the top seal. I guess that's what I get for trying to put it back together extremly tired at 4am in the morning I finally quit procrastinating and deicided I'm going to fix it. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I had the eaxact same problem....it turns the joker who replaced my fuel pump had switched two of the lines coming out of the fuel tank...check your fuel pressure...mine was at 60-70 psi bouncing...when I finally discovered the problem and reversed the lines eveything was normal...I changed my charcoal canister because it was super saturated with fuel and the charcoal was breaking down and it would end up in the intake clogging the injectors.

Oh by the way... I had to change my injectors as well because of this. 5 of 8 were clogged up!!!

A simple fuel pump replacement ended up costing me close to 1500$(Can) all because I was to lazy to do the fuel pump myself...

Yep, theres definitely something wrong with your swap, thats probably what it is too, 2 lines crossed back at the tank. Id guess the return line and vapor line.

Just to make sure I have the lines right, could someone give me the order to which they go from the rear to the front. I think I have mine like this : far rear medium line/tube thingy(not sure what it's call or for), 2nd smaller line/canister, 3rd medium line/return, 4th Fuel line. I looked in my Haynes manuel, but it doesn't give a good enought view to tell what goes where.
