thanks! the car seems to go so well,& most people on here seem to diss the 305 I thought it might be a 350! The engine was in the car when I bought it & yes its an 82 Z28. You say it would develope 165 hp its had a few mods done, any idea what it would put out? it has a holley600 v/s carb,an edelbrock performer inlet, mallory dual point distributor (with a petronix electronic ign. kit fitted),msd coil, headman headers. As I said it goes like stink (after an initial hesitant pause, which, thanks to a lot of help from the guys on here,I will be sorting soon).

eh just a stab in the dark but with headers and full exhaust i'd expect 15-20 hp or so.. if you have the origional cam that would be your main weak point.. 305's arnt a bad engine IMO they just get a bad wrap because you can build a 350 for the same price and make more power.. still fun as hell to embarass guys with stock 350s with though.. specially if u can find an early 80's crossfire vette.. walk all over it with ur carbed 305 n then smile at him

I've heard of people using the http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=12-249-4 and doing pretty good with it.. never really modded a 305 too much myself.. do you know what your rear end gear ratio is? i noticed its stick so you dont havta worry about a converter... might want somethin with a little more duration.. maybe someone else will chime in.... you'd probably find better info if you make a new thread for a cam suggestion... as far as other suggestions a dual snorkel air cleaner setup from a H.O car would probably help ya out a little with a good high flow air filter like a k&n... anything to help it breathe better basically..
