which heads would flow better
which heads would flow better
I have a set of 882 and a set of 416 heads to go on a 350. Which heads should I use: the smaller chamber and smaller valve 416 ported and polished or port the 882 and have them decked to decrease chamber size and port and polish them.

I have an Excel chart with a lot of flow data, if interested post emil address and I will send it to you, however you must have Mircosoft Excel Spreadsheet capabilities.

If that spreadsheet has the 186 castings, ill take it
Stekman@attbi.com
if it doesnt, ill take it anyway
i know F-BIRD'88 and company have had lots of success with the 416 castings (at least i think it was the 416 casting).....do a search, theres lots of good info on the 416 head

The common published flow specs for 882's are not a stock head as supplied from GM.
And they sure don't perform like that.
In stock form, with the stock valves the 882's flow slightly more than stock 416's,,,but......
In ported form with larger valves the 416 heads come out much better. More flow, better chamber...
You can tweek the chamber size up on the 416's to suite your 350. ( deshrouding) and pick up flow too.
You'll never get the chamber size down near enough on an 882 without $$angle milling$$.
I've had both. The modded 416's are better.
Don't forget the larger valves.
