how much should I pay for camshaft install
Hello I understand you get what you pay for but sometimes u can pay a lot for ****ty work as i did with engine, I have my car down street at auto shop they saying $1,100 for camshaft to be installed i called another place 10 miles away they telling me they will do it i get part they will install for $400 is this price about right ? It's a camaro berlinetta 305 I was just knowing what would should be expected to pay for this thanks in advance

100 bucks for a cam install? i would laugh at them.. a new cam wont hardly run above 100 bucks for a nice one. its a day job seeing the front accessories have to come off (alt, water pump, timing chain and balancer, etc) and the oil pan needs to be dropped and re-sealed and dropping the pan means lifitng the engine up a lil...
i'd say your looking at nothing under 400 bucks minus the part. however if you feel frisky, the task at hand isnt all that hard and you save some big time money

hey thanks for your response, I knew $1100 seemed crazy, $400 seemed reasonable i have searched this forum and looked through all my manuals doesnt look that hard removing stuff is easy just the timing chain and getting the timing right ,says to mark the camshaft with white out or something and the timing chain im going ask around at work see if anyone might be able help me i have way too much money in this car to junk it. Plus this great weather we having not been best to deal with
