need advice on starting a project
hi...i'm new here....so forgive me if this isn't in the exact place...looked it over and couldn't figure out where exactly to go with this.....
in any event.....i'm looking to get myself a camaro or the like.....for a project......i want a car with like 350-400 hp and ft/lb torque.....and i am wondering exactly what way would be the least expensive to go about it......
i have very little mechanical knowledge...however i am willing to learn and willing to do what i can myself....i am thinking of just gettin a lt1 and throwing it in whatever body i can get my hands on....but the thing is.....i don't know what would be the most cost efficient way....
i've done a couple hours of searching....and i am just wondering what most of you guys would recommend someone in my position to do......
i don't mind this project lasting a couple years......costing thousands of dollars.....however....as most people will agree...the cheaper the better....
so..i guess that is really what i am asking.....what would the cheapest way....to go about turning a third gen f body into a 350-400 car

Well Id say look for a MINT 3rd gen. Then stick the engine in it. Youll want Sub Frame Connectors, and maybe some other stuff Im guessing. Maybe someone else can shed some more light.

LT1 is a bad idea. They are rated at 275hp and that a bit away from your 400hp goal.
Cheapest route is going to be a carb setup. Find a 4 bolt main 350 add comp XE 274 cam and modified vortec heads. You can get them both from www.sdpc2000.com.
