L98 and 305 heads
A camaro I am buying has a 90 L-98 vette motor with stock TBI 305 heads on it, I also have a set of 84 416 heads from my 84 trans am, would these be a superior set over the TBI heads, how many CC's are the stock 89 camaro 305 TBI heads.
I've heard the L-98 vettes aluminum heads have 58 cc chambers as do the 416's, and is the later intake hard to adapt for use on earlier heads.
or would a set of f-body 350 heads be my best choice ?

The 416s are your best bet. The TBI heads are atrocious
Port and polish the 416s according to the instructions linked at the end of my sig. Lots of good info there

when bolting 305 heads to a 350 what head gasket do you use, I'm thinking a 350 gasket, but correct me if I'm wrong

hmm...confusing statement... doesnt a '90 L98 vette motor have aluminum 58cc L98 heads?
i put in my vote for those heads especially if they're ported. plus they'll relieve your front end of about 50lbs of weight if you ditch the iron slugs.

problem with the aluminum heads is this, while they are the best they also have no provision for a egr system this is a california car so that idea was thought of and shot down as quik

the new gmpp zz4 heads (113 casting) don't have egr or heat riser but the oem production 113 corvette heads did. i believe with c.a.r.b. laws those heads are legal in cali on 85-92 f-bodies and vettes only. if you do decide to go with those make sure theyre the later "d"-exhaust port models. they flow better.

cormyr
the ZZ4 113's are l98 aluminum heads, the vette drew egr gases from the exhaust manifold, at least the 90 L98 did, however I'm not sure about earlier years.

Hey. I've heard that using the 305 heads on the 350 engine were a bad choice, mostly because of the difference in the gap between each CC. using the 350 gasket would leave a small ledge above the bore, and wouldn't that cause turbulence?
