What is this called? A shift plate or shift guide??? HELP!!

You know on our manual stick shifts theres a leather boot that goes around the stick? Well I am wondering if there is a plate type thing that I've seen on other cars that we can use for our camaros...its a plate with grooves in it that the stick travels in to guide your shifting..I've seen it on european cars and mercedes and stuff...

Does anyone know what im talking about?? Where can i get one???? Icve had TOO much cofffeee today2!!!

never saw one before but it wouldn't be hard to make something. use a piece of poster paper as a template and after you have it worked out transfer it to a piece of aluminum or what ever you want to use.

Thats a very cool idea. Im thinking it would even look great on an automatic car instead of the stock ugly black plastic. I just might have to try that out.

They call those gated shifters, so I'd imagine what you need is a shift gate
And dont get discouraged when you ask for one and the guy on the other end laughs or says "Huh?"

Ede is right, you will probably have to make one. I dont think anyone makes something like that.
