Machine a new block?

I am trying to find the most cost effective way to build an engine ( aren't we all). I was just wondering if a new block would need to be sent to the machine shop or if it comes machined when you buy it?

Thanks in advance.

Some come fully machined and some come as cast. If you go with the fully machined one make sure you check all the measurements. Nobodys perfect.

for abasic build up you would need no additional machining, but if you wanted to blue print it or something more than stock you may want additional machining.
