what gaskets do i need

Ok, I got a new intake Im installing on my TPI. Plenum, runners & manifold. Do I need to buy an engine kit or do they sell a kid with the parts I need. I hear tat FelPro is good. Also my car smokes at startup will this fix it or do I need to go deeper. If so how deep? what else needs to done.

Thanks for the info

I don't know about the gaskets - never needed to look into it.

The smoke-at-start-up is most likely valve stem seals. The intake gaskets won't change a thing. Small block Chevy's are well known to have the seals harden and crack, producing the symptoms you describe.

You need an intake manifold gasket kit.

Valve seals would be the problem with your smoky startup.

Yeah you will need a lower intake manifold set.. This will include the upper set (for runners and plenum) along with the base manifold to cylinder head gaskets and distributor gasket.. Felpro is good.. Just make sure to use RTV around the water jackets...

I didn't because Helm's didn't call for it. No leaks yet.

If you use felpro performance gaskets, they have an integrated sealing bead in them... The ones that come with a intake manifold set do not.. So you have to use sealant on those or they will leak...
