Aluminum or cast iron heads?
Aluminum or cast iron heads?
I have a 1988 GTA which came originally with the 305/5-speed combination. Someone has supposedly swapped a 350 into this from a wrecked corvette. It looks like the engine number is missing. I think that 86+ vettes used aluminum heads in their L98's. Does anyone know if the stock GTA heads were aluminum or not?
thanks
thanks
the 305 never had alinimum heads, the l98 vette engines did. if you're wondering what you have stick a magnet on the head, it won't stick to aluminum.

No, GTA's have iron heads, but I'm not sure when Vete's switched to aluminum, '86 or '87 I think.

Vettes switched in 86 on convertibles and 87 on the rest.
Sounds like there is still a 305 in there. There are numbers on the block (sides, driver side back by the trans, passenger side in front of the cylinder head) that you could probably read and find out what it is. Take a look and if you see numbers, post them here and I know someone can tell you whats in it.
