Can I Run this Cam?
I would like to run the following cam with vortec heads and stock rockers, which i assume are 1.5:1 as this is a vortec crate engine.
Its part #24502586, HOT CAM
I cant find the amount of lift they have with 1.5:1 rockers, only 1.6:1.
I believe the vortec heads will take 0.500" lift.
Thanks for your time, just wanted to verify before i purchased it.

.5 lift is really pushing it, the manufacturer says .450 max and im running .480. stock rocker arms arent 1.5 by the way, theyre more like 1.42 or so. youll definately be pushing your luck!

Ok, thanks guys...just thought i would look at every option. I guess i'll go with the cam they run in the 350 HO. It has 0.480" lift and i verified this with Jim Pace Parts to be ok to run with stock heads.
Thanks again for the help

CompCams makes a nice XE cam that works well. 218/224 @.050 w/ .462/.469 lift. I'm running it w/ no problems on my stock Vortecs.
A few people are also running the next larger extreme energy cam (and most of the mag buildups use this cam), I believe it's packing around 224/230 duration w/ like .477/.480 lift. Don't quote me on that though.
I didn't want to push it since it was fairly unknown exactly what the limits were then so I went w/ the smaller cam. I was hoping CHP was going to compare the two cams in their articles, unfortunately all they did was say they thought the smaller one would make nearly as much HP w/ more lower end torque and turn basically identical 1/4 times. I would have liked hard numbers...
