Rubber Problems

Rubber Problems

Okay, right before I put my car into storeage I was going down the freeway a, "little" over the speed limit. Then some lady just cut in front of me going to more then 30mph. Needless to say I slammed on the breaks and considering I was soo luck not to have ABS I lit all four tire up. So afterwards I noticed that I had a vibration in the car. I figured that it was flat spots that had developed on the tires; does this sound right. I slid for a good 100 feet at 80+mph. So no problems on the back, lit them up a couple times and have had no problems since but what should I do about the front? They are brand new tires and I don't wanna get new ones.

Just rotate them and burn rubber again.

Or are they the IROC/GTA wheels that are different front and back??

They are the directional front/back 90-92 alloys. The thing is too I don't want to dismount them, I don't know if any one does this themself but a 45 side wall on a GSC is not the easiest thing to dismount/ mount. Can I throw them (the front rims) on the back of a S-10?

I'm not familliar whether or not the front and rears are the same size on the 91,92s.

If they are the same size, just rotate them front to rear.

As far as an S10 to burn them in....can a S10 burn rubber??

The front wheels will fit and clear on the rear axle, but the rear wheels might not clear the steering knuckes and tie rod ends on eh front end. If you can get some "loaner' wheels or spacers to install the rear wheels on the front temporarily, you can mount the fronts on the rear axle and burn them to your heart's content.

They must be a pretty soft rubber compound to flatten after one hard stop - then to "clean up" after a few burnouts.

I don't think that burning out will help. I think that you will probably have to buy new ones. But if you want to try, Vader is right about switching the wheels from the front to the back.
