What ever happened to daytime running lamps?
I remember all the commercials and stuff in 96(I think). GM jumped all over it but I never really noticed other cars with them. Wasnt it a law to start using them just like the third tail-light in 86?

I don't think it's a law, since some of GM's ZR2 Blazers and Trucks after the 1998 model year didn't have DRL. They recalled my 98 ZR2 since the DRL's are supposedly too bright, but I'll be damned if my baby ever goes to a shop for someone to swap a wire harness that works! It may be a law now, though.

That is a very good question. I don't think it's a law though. Only in Canada is it law. American cars that were manufactured in Canada all had them. At least that's what I've heard.

Well I dont know anybody who bought a car in the last 5 or so years that didn't have drl on it. Not many cars come without them now. Its like seatbelts, all cars have them, but you don't hear a bout them anymore.
...and some GM vehicles (and some european imports) have REAR DRLs on them. Ever follow one of the new Buicks, wondering why the dude is riding his brakes, only to find out that the bright red lights are DRLs below the rear bumper? Fortunately, most Buicks are easy to pass, so the nuisance doesn't linger for long...
(and please, don't start with me about GNs and TTAs again - big cubes are better than bright lights.)

I really dont notice it on new cars in the US. I just usually pass a few s-10's or blazers everyday with them on.
I hate how the new buicks have those bright *** red lights in their back bumpers. It's so annoying. I saw one with one of the lights burned out... even more annoying! lol
I think that's a really stupid idea... but that's just me.
