You can just unhook the v-belt that goes to your pump and let it go. Serpentine guys need to remove it and get another belt to properly delete it. You can just take the belt off until you upgrade to non AIR headers. It is not worh the energy to plug the wholes on the exahust manifolds and remove the AIR. Just wait till you get headers.

If you're set on it all you have to do is go to the hardware store and buy npt pipe plugs (cant remember the right size). or you could just put some short bolts in too.

The only real advantage to removing the pump is freeing up space under the hood though. You'll never notice any power gains from it.

it'd be fine to just screw them in as is. Thread locker wouldnt help much anyway, even the high temp stuff would just burn up on the exhaust manifolds.

I tried to remove my AIR and I could not get them off my manifolds. My car only had 30,000 miles on at the time and they woul dnot budge. I just waited until i got headers and saved myself from doing a lot of work on something that will be replaced at a later date.

have you guys blasted them down with penetrating fluid? Any exhaust related bolt is always a bear to get out. My only suggestion would be to hose it down with pb blaster, and remember to use a flare nut wrench to break it loose.

you can get pb blaster at just about any place that sells auto parts. It comes in a white can that has writing ALL over it and has a yellow cap on it.

A flare nut wrench is also called a line wrench by some. It's basically a 6-point wrench with a little slot cut into so it resembles a regular wrench. They're basically used on any nut or bolt that is fragile and prone to stripping, like bleeder screws, fuel line nuts, and your hollow air tube nuts. To be real brief about them, a regular wrench only comes in contact with the nut in 2 places,a flare nut wrench will come in contact in 6; this makes sure you dont round off the nut or bolt.

You can get them at sears, snap on, mac, most auto parts stores have a cheap brand they'll sell as well.
