Are these stock headers for an 83 LG4?

 

Those aren't headers, they are manifolds. None of these cars came with anything even dimly resembling headers.

Those do look rather like LG4 ones, with their miniscule outlets.

 

what are the numbers on them? easiest way to tell

 

I'm not sure they're "stock".

The driver's side A.I.R. valve points to the rear. Stock LG4 would point to the front, if '83's are like my '86's.

But, the passenger side has the flat flange for the EFE valve. I didn't think TBI used that, but I don't know for sure about that.

There should also be a heat "stove" around the driver's side for LG4.

So, I'm not sure what those may have come off of.

 

could ther possibly be a crappier design for an exhaust manifold???? no wonder LG4s are gutless wonders, 145 horse!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

 

my '82 driver side AIR tube pointed to the rear. but mine also had the THERMAC crap on it

 

Those in the pic used to have the Thermac heat stove on them; it's just been stripped off. All carbed cars (which those obviously are for, since they have the heat riser provision) have had the Thermac since the late 60s. In fact I think you can still see the ghost of it, in the pattern of clean vs dirty rust on the central part of the driver's side one.

 

I remember those stupid AIR tubes on my 84 Z28... I cut them, then pulled them out and tossed them... only to find that bolts to fit those holes are:

Hard to find
Expensive
and like to fall out a lot lol

 

remember tat 80-up car 305 manifolds are two stud outlet design and 80-up truck 305 manifolds are three stud outlet design, but otherwise identical manifodls

 

LOL I did the same thing on a 67 chevy P/U with a 307, 3 on the tree. But I just crimped off ht hoses after cutting them.....(dualing banjo's plays)

 

When I took the tubes out of my 88's exhaust manifolds I went to a hardware store and found plugs no problem. I can't remember the size but they were cheap and worked great. I have since thrown the manifold in the trash or I'd see what size the bolts were. Oh well....

Now I have problems with my edelbrock TES headers because I have the tubes cut and plugged with screws and JB weld lol. Next time the headers are off they are getting welded.
