no starting condition (long)
no starting condition (long)
Hi all,
I've already posted a few messages here to figure out my problems with my car, but so far I didn't find anything special. but I did fix some things that didn't checked out.
The problem I still have is that the car, a 1985 pontiac firebird eng. code H LG4 5.0L, isn't starting the way it should. The starter rotates the engine and it seems like it's fires up but it doesn't. So far I checked the following: carb (qjet std) & carb gasket (replaced gasket and fixed some things on carb (tps & choke pull-off). Took out all emmission including EGR and CAT. Replaced distributer cap (without replacing the coil), checked all sensors and replaced MAP & CTS. Replaced spark plug wires (8mm), set timing to 6 BTDC. Checked all the electrical connections I could think of. Checked if there was a spark, fuel & air. And this was all done on a rebuilt engine (did it myself, new bearings, pistons gaskets and so on).
Does anybody have an idea where to look next??? Car runs great when engine is started (after 30 minutes of trying) and sometimes the car starts immidiately.
doesn't seem temp related.
thanks in advance...

Mabye an intermittent coil?? It should read open to ground and a low (I forget the actual value) resistance through the coil. Move the coil wires around while measuring to help find an intermittent problem.
