What will be the best valve stem seals to use?
What will be the best valve stem seals to use?
I wnat to know what will be the best valve stem seals to use for my 1987 305 TPI Trans AM? I have great puff of blue smoke on warn start ups
I was wondering if there a certian product that would last a while. Also, could you tell me what sets (intake and exhuast) to get and the store( like Jegs or Autozone) I am planning on installing the valve seals during Mardi Gras holidays!!!
Thanks again!!!,

I just asked my old boss, who's quite a good mechanic, about this the other day. I wanted to know whether to use pc type seals or umbrella type. He recommended the pc type seals. Probably your best bet would be the teflon pc seals. I discovered that GM used a combination of both seals originally on our heads. I had pc seals on the intake valves and umbrellas on the exhaust valves. My buddy recommended just using the pc's on all the valves instead. You should be able to get the teflon pc seals at most parts stores.
