LT1 iron heads - Good??

LT1 iron heads seem to be a dime a dozen on Ebay. I was thinking that a set of those could be modded to work on a gen1 sbc by boring and then pressing a soft plug in where the coolant passages need to be filled.
Has that ever been tried?
Does it sound like it might be a good idea?

Thanks

They flow better than the aluminum ones in stock form. Porting takes them a bit further but it is not worh it really. By the time you put the money into them to make them work on a Gen 1 block you could have a better set of heads for less. Plus many people go with the aluminum ones because of the drastic wieght savings.
