Question about buying a 3rd Gen

I will soon lose my company car, and am considering buying a 3rd gen for my daily driver. I really like the body style and the interior set up. I have an 02 SS that is my weekend driver in the summer, but I want a 3rd gen for everyday. My question: Since I haven't a clue, can someone fill me in on the trouble spots that I should look for. Which motor the 5.0 or the 5.7 is preferred, is there any significant differences? TBI ? One last, although its not critical, what kind of gas mileage is normal? Thanks!

Reliability and gas mileage are good on the 305 TBI. If power is important to your daily driver go with a TPI.

Ask if the heater core has been changes recently. A leaking heater core is a common ailment in our cars. I replaced my '92 Camaro last year and I am doing my '87 T/A now. Not a fun job.

Good luck.
