Does anyone know where specialty GM tools can be bought and/or rented? (preferably rented)

What tools are you looking for? Pulley removers, harmonic balancer remover/installer, powersteering pump pully installer, spring compressor, all of these can be rented at Autozone.

I was looking for A/C clutch removal tools. I found them at AutoZone. However, maybe you could list a few other places? (AutoZone doesn't have a huge selection)

If you want to spend the money and get a pretty good set of automotive specialty tools goto Sears. Craftsmen has a set for like 500 but it's always on sale for at least 450 and usually once a month you can get no financing for 6 months when you use the Sears Card.

Ask the local GM dealer if there service department has any tools you could rent for a day. Other than that I think autozone is the only place.
