Flashing Code 12?
Well, I tried to pull the codes and all got was a flash-pause-flash-flash (Code 12) - long pause and then code 12 again. This was the only thing that repeated. This repeated indefinitely (I counted about 10 code 12's).
I repeated the process, with the car off, jumped the 2 pins with a paper clip, turn on the car and then the code 12 thing started. This was the only thing that repeated.
Does this mean the error code is 12 or does it mean that I do not have any stored error codes? The check engine does not stay on -just flashes periodically/intermittently when I am driving. Never/very rarely when I am stopped will the CEL flash. It never (knock on wood) stays on.
Any ideas?!?!?!?!

Code 12 means every thing is ok. If there are other codes stored they will flash after 12. I do not know why it would flash intermittently and not store a code, unless there is a short. You might want to check all connections under the hood to make sure they are seated properly.(Coolant temp sensor, MAT, etc.)

Code 12 is both a blessing and a curse. In a way, it means everything is OK, as the ECU doesn't tend to flash out codes at all when it's really fried, however, it is not a "Everything is OK" code. Code 12 == No Distributor Reference Pulse, which would be really nice for being able to tell your ignition module or coil is fried or such, however, it also doubles as "Your car isn't running".. every time you turn the key to "on", when the SES light comes up, that's a code 12 being set... and thus it becomes totally useless for any form of diagnostics
At any rate, ignore code 12. Missing code 12 is what you would worry about.

Sorry to bring up a dead subject but I am having some troubles with the motor I just rebuilt for my IROC.
The motor would only fire on 6 cylinders, so I did a tune up on it because the wires and ect. were getting up in years.
It did run when I started the tune up and now it won't. The thing won't even turn over, it's like a dead battery but there's no clicking or anything like that.
The ECM is throwing a code "12" at me.
Any light you guys could shed on this would help a lot.
Thanks
Dan

no clicking, well if I were you i would double check your connections and grounds to your starter friend
Also double and triple check all the grounds in the engine compartment for peace of mind
