coolant leak
Is a heater core on a 92 RS hard to change and is it exspensive. I have a coolant leak somewhere and I think I traced it to the heater core becuase my carpet on the passenger side is allways wet and if I have my windows down I smell coolant really strong. im not a 100% sure and dont even know where the heater core is on my car but in alot of cars its in that general area.

Yea that sounds like your heater core. You have to take your whole dash apart and it is a pain. There was a good write up in a thread that was posted not to long ago. I bet a quick search would find it for you.

Yes, its hard to change and yes its expense if you pay someone else. Just disconnect/plug the hose in the engine bay that goes into the firewall. Most FL people do this instead of replacing it. Really, how often do you use the heat? I'm lucky in that my doesn't work, but it doesn't leak either so I've just left it alone. My sister had to disconnect the hose on hers due to the same leak you are discribing.

some have just removed the bottom panel and went for it instead of removing the whole dash. just pull the dash pad and see if u can do it that way instead of wasting all the time taking apart the dash.
