LT4 Hot Cam in L98 TPI

How well would this camshaft work in my 87 Trans Am TPI 350, I will have a chip programmed to the cam I end up using. I am installing a Edelbrock TPI intake, Ported Stock Plumen, Ported SLP runners, 52mm Edelbrock Throttle body, 24# SVO injectors, Holley AFPR, Hooker Headers, Dyno-max cat-back exhaust, 160 T-Stat, 1.6 roller tip rockers, and using 1992 stock L98 iron heads that have been ported, larger springs, and screw-in studs. Would this be too much for my set-up? I,m running a Compcams with duration intake 206 exhaust 210 lift with the 1.6 rockers .480 intake .510 ehaust. The LT4 Hot Cam is Duration Intake 218 exhaust 228 lift would be 525/525
Thanks, Jason

I don't know the "real world" answer, but according to my Desk Top Dyno 2000, This would be a great setup, around 350 horses.

I've just installed the hotcam on my 355 tpi and have just gotten over 500 miles on the new engine. It runs good, it still needs to be tweaked. Let me tell you that cam's going to need a lot of air flow, ie., heads. I'd say that your SLP runners, fully ported, should be fine as well as your base. The main problem I'd see your having is your heads. The stock heads really can't be worked over enough, at a reasonable price, to complement that cam. So yeah, that cam will work fine for now and will make more power than the cam you currently have, but it will make a whole lot more with a great set of aftermarket al. heads.

Thanks for the replys. I'm planning on sticking to the heads I have I've pretty much gone as far as I want with the car and just want to get the best cam for my combo prefer Gm Performace Parts Cam though. Would the ZZ4 cam be a better choice for my car? The reason I'm wanting to change is the cam in the car was in my 305 TPI and I think it's too small for my 350 TPI and want to get one better suited to what I have now. The reason I'm not looking at any better heads is I've spent enough on the engine the car still needs set of tires, rims, (ones on it are bent) paint and body work I'm pretty much restoren this car just with out the 305. If any one can suggest a better cam please let me know. Thanks, Jason

That is alot of cam for those heads, but I ported and polished my L98 heads and installed an LT1 cam and 1.6 roller tips, and it pulls hard at 5500 rpms so maybe you'll be ok.If your having someone do your heads, and the cost is more than $500 you might as well buy a set of World s/r heads for the same price.
