Car won't start

Ok I'm having a lot of fun here. I got an 87 Camaro that had a blown up engine. Put in an engine from an 86 Monte Carlo, both 305's btw. The car was running, fan has never worked as long as I've had it but that is another problem in itself. Let's not worry about that now. Well anyways, this car has brand new plugs, coil, cap, rotor, ign module, fuel pump(mechanical), alternator, and a battery. I've added all of this since the car stopped wanting to start. First I thought that it must be spark since I could use ether or just put gas in the carb and the car wouldn't start, it turns over just no start. So that is when I replaced the coil, cap, rotor, and ign module. Well then it still wouldn't start. We then replaced the fuel pump and filter(in carb). Still no start. Checked the plugs and even after much cranking they were dry as a bone, almost like no fuel was getting to them, so I'm thinking maybe we need to rebuild the carb? Haven't done that yet, I didn't think I would need to rebuild the carb just to get the car to start, but I've been wrong before. Well then I noticed that the choke light was on and I knew the alternator was getting ready to crap out, when it was running everytime I did something like turn on the rear defogger it squealed. So now the alt has been replaced as well as a new battery. STILL NOTHING, actually now it kind of spits and sputters a very very little bit. The choke light still comes on but only when I quit cranking the engine, it just flashes for a second. This is getting really old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also sorry if I left anything out, but I try to let you guys know if I've tried something but just didn't mention it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check your timing. Make sure the starter wires are bolted to the correct terminals and you have a good ground.

Hope this helped some. Hang in there.

I don't think I can really check the timing unless it's running. Also it turnsover just no start, so I know the starter is fine.

You can check while you're attempting to start. Just hookup the timing light as usual, and squeeze the trigger, aim at the marks, and crank.

If no light, as in no spark, make sure its getting 12V to the dist, if its HEI. Providing you didn't leave anything out from changing the coil, and having replaced the module, ign should be good to go.

As for fuel, by manually opening the carb throttle, the accelerator pump should squirt a quantity of fuel into the carb/intake. If not, then carb bowl might be dry as in fuel pump dead or lost its prime from sitting. Remove fuel line from carb or manual fuel pump on block, remove gas cap from tank, seal off fill tube with shop air and a rag, and squirt some air into tank for about 2 seconds several times. This event should push fuel to pump. Hook everything back up, and fuel pump should take over from there to supply carb. Pickup tube in tank may be plugged if no fuel.

Charge the battery with a charger to replenish it. Choke light is driven by a relay powering the electric choke. You'll have to see the library for an electrical diagram from the Reference Section #629 to find the source of power and return.

def getting spark, I will do that air into the fuel tank when my air compressor gets back to the garage. Where is this relay so I can just replace the friggin thing? I just want this to start. Just ordered a new carb for this thing hopefully that will help also.
