Modifying T/A hood

is it possible to modify the hood to make the front vents an air intake and to make the side vents functional as heat extractors?

sure you could cut slots in the hood, but you run the risk or dirt and water getting in as well as allowing heat to get out.

l mean modifying the stock T/A hood. It already has the side vent looking things. l would want to retain those. Also, how big of a deal would it be if rain or dirt went in that way? l mean, its not near the carb or anything. Enlighten me.

EG,

The front air intakes are already working vents. They are ducted to the little side vents on top of the hood. They are ducted through the passages formed by the steel liner of the hood. These vents are designed primarily to allow some air from the high pressure area (front of the car) to pass through the hood and vent outward at the sides of the windshield. Their functionality is very minor, but they are functional. The theory is to reduce aerodynamic drag by reducing pressure at the top/front of the car. They also vent past the windshield since the cowl is also a high pressure area at speed. The net effect of this also provides a little cooling of the outer skin of the hood. These intakes probably could be used for a cold air intake or ram air supply, but the section of the hood is very thin in this area and any intake ducts would be necessarily small and possibly restrictive. Ram air from under the car may be more effective, but would also likely contain more moisture and dirt. Just some more things to consider.
