Basically what the title says. i don't want to hook everything up yet until i know the engine is going to be ok. there's so many wires and vacuum ports and i don't know what a few of them are for. The motor's an LG4 with a CC q-jet. Should i plug the unused vacuum ports for now? Thanks for any help

Yes, plug all the unused vacuum ports until you are in a position to hook them up. The last thing you want is a vacuum leak when trying to establish whether or not your engine is running correctly. Keep the PCV valve connected though.
