What hp might this motor combo make?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6783
This car is on ebay, and I just might get it! But, I want to know if he is WAY over estimating the hp or not. I think he is, but I don't know all that much about the internals of engines.
CHEVY 350 BORED 30 OVER
STD SIZE FORGED CRANK
I BEAM RODS
FLAT TOP PISTONS
ARP HEAD STUDS
S/R TORQUER HEADS WITH 202 INTAKE VALVES AND 160 EXHAUST WITH 170cc INTAKE RUNNERS
CRANE CAM ADV DURATION 300/308 GROSS LIFT 516/525
CAT POWER ROLLER ROCKERS
CROME MOLY PUSH RODS
PETE JACKSON NOISY GEAR DRIVE TIMING SET
PERFORMER RPM INTAKE
BARRY GRANT RACE CARB
MSD DISTRIBUTOR
MSD 6a IGNITION BOX
MANLEY STAINLESS STEEL VALVES
EDELBROCK CROME VALVE COVERS
HOLLEY MECH FUEL PUMP WITH INLINE PRESSURE REG
NEW OIL PUMP
NEW RADAITOR
NEW ALT
HEADMAN HEADERS AND Y PIPE
NO CAT
40 SERIES FLOW MASTER
NEW CLUTCH
ENGINE AND TRANNY HAVE 1202 MILES ON THEM
TRANNY IS A T-5 OVERHAULED
REAR END HAS C-CLIP ELIMINATORS
NEW FORNT STRUTS REAR HAS KYBs
NEW TIRES AND RIMS, ALM DRIVE SHAFT WITH NEW U-JOINTS
FRONT ROTORS AND PADS ARE ALSO NEW
He estimates 600-750hp.
Also, I know a T5 can't take a 350! Even the World Class is under rated for the torque a 350 puts out, nevermind a built one!
What do u guys (or gals!) think?

Those heads will flow somewhat over 400 HP, maybe 425. He's giving up some amount of HP in that stupid gear drive. He's got enough cam to make 425 HP. He doesn't really have enough chrome parts on it to make up for the gear drive; he'd need a chrome oil pan and timing cover, maybe a chrome alternator, possibly even an Edelbrock "Pro Flow" triangular air cleaner and chrome extra-long valve cover hold-downs with the handles on them, to pick up that much. So he's probably just a bit over 400.
Typical used car salesman it sounds like.... stretch the truth as far as he can get away with.

If that a factory forged crank (not aftermarket) I seriously doubt it could handle 700hp. It would be fine with 400-450 though, like RB estimates it would be making.
170cc's doesn't seem like enough to feed 700hp either. I'd imagine you'd have to be quite a bit over 200cc to feed 700hp.
The gear drive... uhhgg.... why? Its going to be more drag on the engine, and it will also be really loud. I think a good double-roller chain with steel gears would be a much much better choice.
What kind of pistons are they? Cast, forged, hyper? What brand?
What kind of clutch is it?

The guy who "all so dragged raced funny cars" must get a good chuckle with his friends every time that guy leaves the shop.
It's at least worth the current bid.

HAHA! Thanks for a good laugh.
Coming from someone who has world s/r heads they will not support in stock form much of anything over 400hp, let alone 700hp! They flow about as good as old smogger heads. The smallest chamber they have are 67cc, and when I cc'd mine I got closer to 70cc(and others I have seen have had similiar results) so with flat tops he prolly has 9.5-9.7 CR Tops...that cam is entirely too big for such low compression..it will be a dog at anything under 4k, and after it reaches its breathing room at the higher rpm ranges the world s/r heads will be done breathing and no power would be made up top either. I would be suprised if that engine puts out 375HP, and would be even more surprised if it could even squeeze into the 13s at the 1/4 mile with such a mismatched combo. Hes obviously trying to entagle someone who doesn't know anything about cars with that bogus estimate, what else do you think he is hiding?
