immediate help required!!!

hey guys. i have an 89 firebird with a 2.8 manual. but thats not the car im here to talk about. my gfs car is a 92 taurus with a 3.8 and i was wondering if anyone could help me with a thermostat change.. or possible answer a question.. would a thermostat make the car not run. it starts but then dies. anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Well let's pretend you're talking about an F Body so you don't get this thread locked. NO, the thermostat has nothing to do with the car dying.

Well if I had to guess, not knowing anythign about the car, I would say that it is fuel or computer related. But there are a ton of things that it could be. I know for sure that it has nothing to do with the cooling system.

First get your screwdriver. Slide the end of it behind the "Ford" emblem, being careful not to puncture the sheetmetal. Twist and pry until the emblem falls to the ground. Then go try starting it again. That should do it for you.

Seriously, though, there shouldn't be any reason any part of the cooling system would keep a car from starting. If I was trying to figure out the problem, I'd have to start with the basics. Since you say it starts and then dies, I'll assume that you're getting spark. I'd check anyways though, just to feel sure about it. Then, I'd look for fuel supply problems.
