What is trhe biggest small block chev. ever?

I've heard of a 427 small block. Does it really exist. Is there anything bigger in a small block and are they hard to find?

The biggest SB chevy made was the 400, Now when you include strokers, you can get 434ci. There are most likely other combinations out there, that I don't know about, and can't comment on. So I read this ? as if you were asking about chevy only.

The biggest small block I've seen was in Car Craft or Chevy High Performance a couple of years back. It was a 454 c.i. small block. They were trying to see if they could build a small block with the displacement of the legendary big-block 454.

Actually i remember in an old issue of CC or HR someone had written in asking the same question, sort of anyway.
They were asking why noone runs a small block in pro stock as it seemed possible to make 500ci. They replied that a few years ago one of the big pro stock guys did in fact build a 500ci small block but they couldn't get the same power out of it as the BB based 500s. There just is no way to get the head flow you need to make pro stock HP in a small block paskage, despite the weight savings.
Then again, CC and HR have been known to smoke crack, but they did seem like they were serious.
