Swapping A/C into a non A/C car...what all do I need?

I'm parting my cousin's IROC out...taking all his power window and lock stuff. My RS has the A/C delete...just has NO A/C. It has a heater, but no AC.

Exactly what ALL do I need to rip out of my cousins IROC for the transplant to be a success? Am I gonna need to rewire my fusebox for A/C? Can I find documentation anywhere on the internet on how to swap in A/C?

...Or could I just take all the parts to an A/C shop and pay someone to install it?

Thanks.

The entire A/C system is installed at the factory as essentially 2 large pieces. There is the piece that goes under the hood that includes the compressor, condenser, and the evaporator pre-installed in its housing; and the piece that goes inside the car which includes all the ductwork, the heater core, wiring, and the control head. Obviously those are the pieces you need. You will also need the brackets for the compressor.

I have no idea what the hole in the firewall might be like in a non-A/C car. There are some welded-in "nutserts" in the firewall of a car with A/C, for the ductwork to screw to. You might have to just get a sheet metal nibbler, and nibble out the whole section of the firewall, and replace the it with the similarly nibbled-out section from teh donor car.

To gain access and working room behind the dash, you will need to take the dash pad off and all the various brackets out of there on the right side, take out the console and the hush panel & ECM from underneath, and loosen the big nut on top and the big screw on the bottom that hold the dash in.

All in all quite a chore, but by no means impossible if you pay attention to how things are made, and work with the biggest assemblies possible. Remember, the factory didn't install the A/C one piece at a time, and you shouldn't either.

If there is a car assembly plant anywhere near where you live you whould go take a tour and watch them put a car together on a production line. It's unbelievable how much better you will understand how onw goes together, you will learn all sorts of things you don't even know exist. It will really help you see where the major assemblies of the car join each other, to help you not have to take stuff apart unnecessarily.
