What engine to buy?

My friend has a '89 Chevy w/350 carb. What would be the easiest swap engine for him. I've seen the gm crate motors, but which one? He wants around 300hp, but the 350HO says it is for up to '85 vehicles. So what would be a good choice?
Thanks

I had the same problem, I have an 86 IROC and the GM Goodwrench 350 would only fit up to 85, but it fit in mine, the only problem was the flywheel didn't match up so I had to get a different one, and also I think the damper or harmonic balancer didn't fit, but the 350 HO should fit w/ a few minor adjustments.
