Can any real performance gains be expected going from a stock oil pan to a Moroso with integral windage tray, crank wiper, and trap door sump?

Be careful. I just put it on mine and I'm not ready to bolt the y pipe up yet but it looks like I'm going to need a new one because the extra capacity is in the way of where the old pipe went.

Yes, that is a major issue if you plan on using the factory or most replacement Y pipes. I do know that GM made a few factory pans that came with windage trys. I beleive 5-7kid is using one from a vett.

Is there an aftermarket that fits well? Or do I just need to go custom?

i believe they do make one specificly for this app..

but ask yourself if the gains you're likely to see are worth the cost.

My Moroso pan ("made for 82-92 Fbodies") and my SLP y-pipe were not compatible. I had to spend $125 for a custom y-pipe. FYI, this pan did not come with an integral crank wiper or windage tray, just the trap door/baffling.

This is the one I use, on motors that use a LH dip stick. I use the Moroso Teflon-coated windage tray with it. It fits these cars perfectly, Y-pipe and all.

I would not fool around with the trap doors and all that. Totally unnecessary on the street, will actually cause more trouble than it will solve in all likelihood.

If the rear main oil seal (either 1 or 2 piece) and the dipstick sides line up, yes it should fit. Although, fitment might be an issue. Not fitment to the block, the block is still the L98, but fitment around the frame. Im not sure how that would go as to it clearing or not.
