Bucking and jerking under acceleration?

Okay, the car was overheating so I rigged the fans to run all the time. Now the car is a lot cooler, but it has no power. When I floor it, the revs climb, but no gear engages. The engine is really choppy to accelerate too, even in neutral. Could it be detonation? Too low of an octane?

Uh, If the Motor is Revving Up and Your Not going anywhere, Then your trans ( or clutch ) is-a-slippin ( or The rearend is, but thats less likely IMO ).

If you Have any feel whatsoever For your Car, you should be able to gauge appropriate Seat of the pants accelration For The RPM, If its off You can tell instantly.
