Any tricks to replacing injectors???
I recently ordered some new 22lb injectors from www.fiveomotorsport.com and was curious what tricks there are to replacing them??? Do I need to removed the plenum and runners to remove the fuel rail? Can I unplug the wires going into the fuel pump to relieve pressure like I do when changing the filter? Anything else I should know?? ANY suggestions or help would be GREATLY appreciated.....thanks in advance.

I replaced all my injectors about a year ago. It's not that hard at all. I think I just followed a tech article on this web-site. I did remove the plenum and runners, but I also took off the intake to change a leaking gasket at the same time.
Here is a link to the tech article:
Injector swap
My car was sitting for awhile so I didn't have much pressure when I undid the fuel lines. The tech article, if I remember correctly, states to just put the ignition in the "run" position for a moment. I did this, but when I changed my fuel filter, I took out the fuse and tried to run the car until it died. Good luck!

Do I need to removed the plenum and runners to remove the fuel rail? ....YES......
Can I unplug the wires going into the fuel pump to relieve pressure like I do when changing the filter? ...Relieve the fuel pressure at the fuel gauge port, or at the front of the intake by disconnecting the fuel lines. You might as well do this, because you are going to have to disconnect the fuel lines anyway. Be very careful, let the engine cool down. Have a fire extuingusher (sp) readyand some rags.
Anything else I should know?? ... Relieve the fuel pressure, remove the plenum & runners, disconnect the injector connectors. You already have disconnected the fuel lines. Remove the bolt in front of the intake manifold that anchors the fuel fittings of the fuel rails (9/16" socket). Remove the 4 bolts holding down the fuel rails (10mm socket). Pull straight up very firmly on the fuel rails. They can be very stubborn.
Once the fuel rail is loose, the trick is to rotate the little snap rings that keep the injectors in the fuel rail.
When inserting the new injectors, use a bit of motor oil on both ends o-rings also clean up the boss in the intake that the injectors goes into. Also also, using your finger swpie some motor oil into the boss.
I am sure that I am missing something, but I just removed the fuel rail from my '87 IROCZ.
Do not remove the TB from the plenum,, no need. There should be a small vacuum line stuck into the bottom of the TB, just pull that off gently. Remove the air box and the rubber tube as a unit which lies between the air filters and the TB.

Sounds good. I also went ahead and ordered some new O-rings from Advance, just in case the injectors dont come with them. Im going to replace the EGR valve while its all apart...I cleaned the EGR passages last summer when I had to replace the EGR valve gasket....BUT I plan on porting the plenum while Im waiting on the injectors. Thanks for the article and tips....I appreciate all the help.
