engine falls flat on its face at 2800-3 k

ok i have a 82 t/a with a carbed 355/350 turbo tranny (b&m shift kit/ratchet shifter), accel hei supercoil/8mm wires, new hei dist(non cc) problem is when im going from a dead stop to WOT in first its a tad sluggish but when i hit around 2800 RPM the engine just goes one of 2 things:

1. it stalls the motor completely, shuttting it off (while im rolling)like it bogs out, but after about 3-5 seconds after i let off the gas and sort tap the pedal it starts and then just rips all hell and goes fine until i hit second gear and it does the same thing, but if im crusing already and then floor it its fine

or

2. it kinda sounds like it kills the motor but it sounds more like a half of a cylinder fire but a 10 x the speed it should on all the cylinders, like a machine gun

any ideas on this, ive checked my timing a dozen times, changed the filters, pissed with the carb more than plenty, coils good, wires, plugs yada ya .....

btw i have a edel 600 man choke vac sec carb and performer rpm intake if that helps.
