Any clue what is happening?

I was on a trip yesterday, drove about 90 miles and then pulled off freeway for a minute started car back up and shortly after that, the car would not respond to throttle input, if I pushed on the throttle it would just want to die. It would idle ok. I turned car off then back on and it seemed to be ok but within a few minutes it was doing the same then it seemed to work ok. I was down to about 4 gallons of gas, and it was really acting like a fuel delivery problem, so I filled up and when I released the gas cap it sucked in more air than I had ever heard before. Is it possible to vapor lock these cars, or is it more likely a fuel pump starting to act up? Any other ideas? By the way after I filled it I drove for another 100 miles no problems.

vapor lock is about the last thing that could happen on a modern EFI system. might want to scan for codes, check your tune up and filters.
