square headed oil plug screw

On the top of my engine block, just behind the intake manifold and to the right of the distributor, there is an oil plug where you can put a mechanical oil pressure guage or something. I have oil coming out somewhere around there, so I was going to see if the screw needed to be tightned down.

What kind of socket will fit on it, since it has a small square (instead of hex) head? I was thinking a 12 point socket, but all my 1/4 drives are 6 point. Anyone know what size I would need to pick up?

Where can I get an 8-point socket? Everywhere I've looked doesn't have them (and I can't easily get a wrench down there).

I know the tool set I bought at sears had a set of 8 point sockets in it. Don't know if they sell them by the each though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already looked at Sears and the only 8-point they had was a 7/16 (3/8 drive) on the clearance rack. The sales guy said that Craftsman recently stopped making 8-points . Is there maybe a company I could order one from?

BTW: I tried a 1/4 inch 12-point (that my dad had) on it, but it was way to small. Is it really a 1/4 inch head?

Harbor Freight or most auto parts stores. You are looking for "Star sockets"

For anyone that finds this later, a 1/4 square socket was too small, but a 5/16 seemed to work. The 8-point sockets can be found at Napa.
