Manual pop-up on firebird lights!

Car: 1986 Firebird
Engine: 2.8 V6
Transmission: 700R4
On my '86, I can't manually put up a motor unless I unplug the motor's 3-wire connector from underneath the car. Then I can manually spin it up. To get it to engage again, I just hook the 3-wire connector back together, and the motor takes over and spins itself back down.
If you didn't have to unplug the harness to get the headlight to pop up, maybe your motor's burnt? If I don't unplug the harness, the motor keeps trying to close the headlight on me.
