I just picked up an 1986 Trans am. It has a 5 speed 305 with a computor controlled carb. The car idols very well, but when i let out the clutch and put a load on it, it runs real ****ty and wants to die. But once its moving it runs alot better.

If i have the timming set to factory spec it does it even worse but if i advance the timming it seems to run better but it has a harder time cranking when i try to start it.

I dont know if the advance is messed up or what? Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Do a tune up.

 

you might have to do some trouble shooting. is the tune up good? why don't you check the advance since you have a light and all. scan it for codes? check filters?
