Cam Info?

Thanx for all of the advice on my cam. I readjusted the lifters and it is running better now. It will idle and runs strong. I lost some on the bottom end but picked up plenty in the mid-range and top end.

Could anybody give me suggestions on what to set my timing to. It is the computer controlled distributer with a cam at .480" lift in/ex with 230* advertised duration. All I need is a point to start with and I will play with it from there.

Thanks Again.

As far advanced as it will go without pinging. There's no point in trying to set it to some particular number, who knows whether your balancer is accurate or not (they usually aren't). Just make the motor run the best it can, that's the right timing. With the computerized distributor, the timing curve the ECM is programmed for is going to be severely wrong anyway, it will have nowhere near enough "centrifugal" advance in its program; you'll just have to crank in as much static advance as you can and hope for the best.
