Hurray! I am so excited!!
I have been fighting a hard start condition after the car has been ran since I got the car. If you started it 30 minutes to 11-12 hours after the car was ran, it would sometimes take 3 or 4 long cranks to start. I had to apply 50% throttle when starting it to get it to start decent, quite embarrassing when leaving a car show.
Well I’ve tried almost everything to fix it, and nothing worked. So I am on spring break this week and all my tests pointed to injectors or regulator. So I bit the bullet and started to rip apart my intake. People told me to replace the regulator first because it was way easier then injectors. But if it wasn’t the regulator, I'd have to tear down the TPI again. So my dad tells me to just do both because the injectors are old anyway.
So I have the fuel rail raised and prime the pump, well my battery is dieing (Car is stored, not started much). So I only get 15psi at the rail. My father and I see no dripping, we were pretty bummed out. As we are talking I see an injector drip!!! My dad goes to the other side of the car and says "Ones dripping over here too!"
So my dad tells me to just keep priming the pump until we get more pressure, I did and got it up to 42 psi at the rail. This put the injectors to the test!
Outcome: 2 injectors leak pretty damn bad, 1 injector leaks decent, and 1 injector barely leaks (Only dropped one bit of fuel after sitting 30 min under 42 psi)
Now I know my problem
Sending the injectors to Rich in a few days!
