Replace fuel pump, still nothing

I worked for about 10 hours today replacing my fuel pump, i got a new one (190 ltr/hr). The reason i changed it is because i put a test light to the wire that goes into the fuel pump(behind the back seat, underneat the carpet) and it lit for about 2 seconds when i turned the ignition on - just like it should. So i figured there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump relay or anything else electrically. After i put the new fuel pump in, i still don't hear it run. My question is, even though my test light turns on when it should,(right next to the gas tank) could there still be something wrong with the relay or something else that is causing my fuel pump not to come on? I am so mad, cause i think i just worked 10 hours and spent 80 bucks for nothing.

I think there's also a fuel pump ground close by, follow the wire and make sure it bolted down to clean sheetmetal.

Also, make sure the ground strap from the block to the firewall is intact and good.

Next, unless you've got a real good eye with the light, use a volt meter on the line and make sure you have 12.5 or so Volts when you turn the key on.

My guess is lower than normal voltage, or a fuel pump grounding issue.

Check the ground!! You are grounding out the test light. Yoy know that the pump is getting power, so it probaly isn't grounded.

That voltage sounds very low for a car not started. It will drop even further when the starter kicks in. Theres a wiring problem somewhere, maybe corrosion or a fauly relay/bad ground.

Ok, i give up, i tried my best to figure out what the wiring problem might be. I just connected back my shocks and put the tires back on and gonna get it towed as is. The shop can deal with it from now on, i don't think its gonna be that expensive anymore since i got the exhaust out and everything. Thanks for trying to help me out, i'll let you know what was wrong with it.

I Got it back from the shop already!! I guess it wasn't the fuel pump after all. You guys were right, it was a ground wire that connects to the battery. All is well now. Just wish i had it checked out sooner before i replaced the fuel pump. At least i put a higher flowing pump in there so all that work wasn't for nothing afterall. I'm just so damn happy that its working right now. I missed driving it so much.
p.s. It sounds soooo good without the exhaust on the car.
