ok...the one of my pulleys is making a loud clacking sound...i've narrowed it down to either the smog pump or ac condenser pulleys(I won't be using either soon, anyway) but i'm leaning towards the smog pump...i saw it shaking while the motor was running today and i was just wondering if i should be worried about it flying off and causing damage...question 2 is about my starter...i've been having heat soak problems with it so i wrapped it in a heat blanket but that didn't fix the problem...the problem being my starter struggles to crank the car even if it's only been running a few mins...which leads me to believe that the starter might be going bad...last time it should have been replaced i only replaced the solenoid...also, today when the problem occurred, the starter started spinning not freely but also not making contact with the flexplate and when it did it would crank and then make a very loud "CLUNK" which scared me pretty bad. anyone got any ideas...it's a 383 i built, tried a mini high torque starter but it started chipping flexplate teeth. i hope i didn't seriously damage anything. i got a remote starter solenoid kit and i will probably put in a new starter this weekend...if anyone wants to give me advice it would greatly appreciated. sometimes i feel like i will never get all of the things that need to be done to complete my car...but then i realize i' still in college and i don't have much time to work...even when i do have time i'm lucky if my job schedules me. sorry for that last comment, just a tired thirdgenner losing hope.
